TBush Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 I have a good friend who has a G4 for sale- his business changed back to office-intense PC stuff, and really doesn't need the Mac- I'm a PC/Logic user and the thought of Logic on a Mac has got me drooling like an idiot- I need a towel. I think I could make the switch easily- even keeping the PC for mastering, ACID loops, etc... I'm Mac-illiterate- what would a fair price be? http://www.tbushrecording.com
where02190 Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 How about some specifics? A used mac could be worth anywhere from next to noghting to well over $100 depending on make, model, ram, HDD, OS, accessories. Your post is like asking what's a Ford worth. Hope this is helpful. offramp Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 I'm going to go wild here and speculate that it's a 400 Mhz AGP. With an average amount of RAM (128 or 256) and probably a 20G HD, and given the options for upgrade (many), I'd throw about $600 at it. The internal buss speed is fast enough to make it worthwhile, but a little iffy for upgrades if you're not careful. I've upped my standards; now, up yours.
Sylver Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 I have an Apple IIc if anyone is interested. I also have access to a 1st generation powerbook(20 smokin' Mhz!) with a dead battery that I could be persuaded to part with. Could you run ProTools on either of those? Well, if I had my druthers(and a bigger budget), I would definately spring for a rippin' Mac/PT setup. I guess I'm just stuck with PC/Sonar. I really don't know what to put here.
TBush Posted November 13, 2002 Author Posted November 13, 2002 Thanks guys- I know I need the specifics- haven't talked the owner since Saturday- appreciate the replies. :) http://www.tbushrecording.com

Good thing to do is check out prices where used G4s are being sold. Even Ebay could give you an idea. Processor speed and amount of ram are things to look at. -David R.
