Which synth for pads?

Refx is making the first Wavestation vsti, known as nexus http://www.refx.net

another big advantage of sonic synth's pads is it uses ALL types of synthesis and also many of them are mixed with real world ambient sounds like Wine Glasses and stuff. There's one in the sfx sections that's a pad mixed with the sound of an airplane going over your head - very powerful stuff.

Certain synth sounds in Sonic Synth are not likely to be made on anything else out there right now. Take the pads for example. There is a combination of synthesis and processing that is in there that would take some doing to have in any other "tweakable" software sampler. These sounds are more like what a JV synth can do with the exception of the elements in Sonic Synth being larger samples thus making it sound more rich and realistic. For instance, you know how those voxy pads sound really great on Rolands and Korgs? Well, they sound great with filter sweeps and chorus, reverb etc. But, the raw waves in those hardware machines are squeezed down to a very tiny size (to fit all the other sounds into a 32 meg ROM chip). So, imagine if that vocal texture "element" was not compromised so much and had room to "breathe" so to speak. If that vocal texture element was say 8 megs instead of 150K it would sound so much more beautiful when all that other synth and processing stuff is done to it. That is what is going on in Sonic Synth and I personally haven't heard anything else out there sound like this. Listen to some of these demo riffs and you can hear a bit of what I am talking about: www.sonicreality.com/sonicsynthmore.html
