Line 6 guitar!

Recommended Posts

Well, I heard it today. I didnt get to play through it but I saw a pretty thorough demo by the rep. I was VERY impressed! I will be getting one of these the minute they come through the door. It has a rotary knob with all the different models. A 5-way switch gives you 5 variations for each model. Plus a volume and tone knob. No standard pickup. Just an LR Baggs bridge with piezo's. It also comes with an ethernet port for upgrading and expanding sounds. The sounds were remarkable! Fuck modeling amps. I want this guitar! It comes with an A-B switch. (The guy had it running to a Marshall combo and an SWR acoustic amp) I cannot believe how much the acoustic guitar sounds sounded like an acoustic guitar! Hell, I cant believe they made piezo's sound like P-90's. It really sounded like P-90's! Every damn sound under the sun! Les Pauls Customs, Gold Tops, Strats, Tele's, Martins, 12 strings, banjos, Gretsch's, sitar... The only sound I thought sounded pretty weak was the banjo. But fuck it. I have a real banjo, anyway. I was amazed when one second it sounded like a pristine '59 Strat and then a '52 Les Paul Gold Top. Then a couple of clicks, BLAM! A Martin D-18! He said they come out in December. Hold me...

Wait a minute... If it can't NAIL the banjo... Well then forget it! :freak: But seriously, I'm curious to hear one of these as well... It's an interesting idea that is charting a new course... what about the interaction of the pickup switch, tone control and volume... is it ALL modelled? I bet SOME people rout and slam a couple of pickups in them, (or at least pickup covers), just so they don't look so weird playing it. guitplayer

I'm still "guitplayer"!

Man, that thing sounds so cool. I have yet to hear from a forum member who has actually played one, though. Or, as Duhduh put it, played through one. It seems pretty great to me, but I've never even seen one before. It had better be in MICROseconds. If it is, I'm selling the kids and gettin' one toot suite. F

As much as I drooled over my musician's friend catalog when I saw this thing, I'm eternally grateful that they didn't successfully model bass sounds. After the 80's scare of being taken over by keyboardists, can you imagine being ousted by our OWN bretheren, the guitarists? I'm shivering.

The latency does remain to be seen...Or, uh, heard. Thats one of the major deterrants of their amp line. I just cant get passed the latency. I believe the theory that some people advocate about the difference between solid state amps and tube amps...Latency. It just makes it not feel right.

Well, a few milliseconds of latency isnt really detectable with someone else playing through it. He wouldnt let me play it. He did let me hold the neck with my left hand to feel the neck. I can understand not handing it over, it being a prototype and all.
