With GS I just use the fastest ISA drive I could find taking rotation, seek time and ATA type into consideration. From asking around I am told that a cheap firewire adapter and fast external firewire drive also does well. I have no problems with my ISA but I do not use effects, it is on a dedicated computer, and I have not exceeded 110 voices. Hope this helps if no one addresses Halion directly.
