burningbusch Posted January 12, 2002 Share Posted January 12, 2002 Based on the fact this recording was made in 1968, there aren't a lot of choices. I think it's an acoustic piano with tacks added to hammers. A honky-tonk piano has two things going for it, the tacks and they're generally way out of tune. This piano sounds like it has been tuned recently. I can't imagine this coming from the Mellotron. I did sound a bit like an autochord, but it sounded too percussive. Busch.
