Hmmh, sounds like Yammie's answer to the Roland RS9 and the Korg Triton LE.

Can't wait for their response to the Andromeda, the Voyager and the Q.

Then again, maybe I should stop waiting. :(:(:(

Regards,

Jerry

Hum... more rehashing of old technology. This seems like a stripped down s80. On the other hand, I'm glad synthesizer companies are trying to make their products more affordable. ;)

Maybe they could do a re-issue of the an1x with a better interface.

Looks to me like an 88 key version of the S03, which is a diluted version of the S30, which is a 61 key weightless version of the S80.

No, thanks. I'll stick with the S80. Either that or wait and see if Yamaha comes up with an S120 at the NAMM show. Or release a rack version of the Motif.

Peace all,

Steve

Right, to a certain extent.

In the early 90s the economy was tough too.

"Affordable" meant something like a Kawai K1. Very limited synth engine, no filter, no effects 64 memories (total).

Affordable and very good can now exist in the same sentence.

Yes it looks like an 88 key version of an S03. The s03 is not quite as nice as the S-30 but it sounds very good. Add on an weighted keyboard and you have an S-o8. Depending on the price point it could be a good alternative to roading a P-80.

Now think, for not much more than an S-80 you might be able to have a S08 and an S-30. That works out to 128 voices doesn't it?

Nah, that ain't working for me. Didn't try the S08 yet, it's not in store right now, but I tried the S30 and I really don't like it. There's something with the sounds (sounds cheaper) and the keypad sux. When you buy an S08 and an S30 you will have two cheap spin-offs from one hell of a board, the S80. Better save some more money and go for the real thing...

I think it will take a while before the PF-500 comes. And the price will be in a total different range then the P-120.

Here in the Netherlands a P-80 will cost you about € 1000,- a P-120 about € 1250,- (in stores, not on the net), but the big older brother P-200 will cost you about € 1800,-. Many years ago Yamaha intorduced a P-500. Extremely nice looking machine! Once i saw Stevie Wonder play that thing in a tv show. The price of that one was about € 7500,-!!!!! Later on the P-300 came out as a stripped version of the P-500, less good looking, but the same sounds.

I expect the PF-500 to be much more expensive then a P-200, but you'll never know.

One last thing, the P-120 is REALLY GREAT!!!!!!

I suspect the PF-500 might replace the P-200. Right now the Roland RD-700 has a lot more going for it and is priced about the same as a P-200. Yamaha needs to stay competitive. I do like the attached pedal system. Chasing the damper pedal around the room is one of my biggest pet peaves.
