dalpozlead
Please tell me a cheap and easy gear ( module or hack ), to make lead sounds like Jens Johansson, Matt Guillory, or Mikko Harkin. I already have a controller... As my search for a module ends with the price of it, this is my last chance to find some cool gear and buy it as my Christmas present to myself... Please, help this poor guy, I can't play with my " low quality lead sounds " no more!!! Thank you all.
studioman adam
OK - breath deep. There you go. It's gonna be okay. To get a sound like Jens Johannsen, just take any saw wave and set the envelope appropriately (attack: 0%, hold: 100%, sustain: 100%, releaseL: 0%). And add a little 250ms delay in the effects. There you have it. The classic. Burns just about anything. It works cool with any wave form. I like the sine wave. Sound's like chick corea on a minimoog. studioman adam [][][][][][][][][][][][] "uh........OK?"
dalpozlead
yes Studioman, my problem is: I have a Korg iX-300 with a terrible distortion effect. The saw or the sine is ok, and my dist. works well in high keys, but in the lower notes it sucks! I already tried almost everything in my iX-300 and nothing came in "Jens" sounds, that's why I'm looking for a external device to put some power in my leads!!! Tusker
Try a proco rat (or similar) pedal instead of the internal distortion. The patch would be the same saw patch. If you must buy some synth gear, there are many different ways to get this sound, depending on your taste, intended applications (other than this lead sound) and context (studio, live), etc. Jerry
dalpozlead
I looked at " proco" Home page, and it seems to only have " guitar " gear , will it work well with synth sounds?, 'cause I already tried to put my father's old guitar pedals with my keyb, and nothing special came from it! I was looking for some cheap sound box, or module, I think korg have some of it, but I can't find anything about in the web. Any idea...? Thanks!!! coren
ya the rat is good i put my keyboard through a proco rat 2 and it gives it a nice bite i also use other guitar pedals to add nice sound, but i guess it relies on your taste i like the boss bf-2 bass flange, the ibanez de-7 delay, and to less impressive but enjoyable results, the 105q bass crybaby wah wah, and the boss odb-3 bass distortion
