I'm in confusion into what kind of keyboard players I should look up too and figure out there playing style. My synth heros are Alan Widler, Nick Rhodes, Prince, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis etc... What kind of keyboard players I should look up too and use some there playing styles?

samplefreak,

so you pretty much listen to a wide range of styles!!

i like many of those you said, so my selection for you to listen to would be:

"she" - harry connick jnr

"Brother sister" - the brand new heavies

"trunk funk - the best of TBNH" - the brand new heavies

"dig deeper" - DIG (directions in groove, aussie band)

"on how life is" - macy gray

"33 1/3" john farnham (another aussie)

probably only harry and DIG concentrate directly on keyboards as such, but many of the BNH's songs have some pretty kewl keyboard stuff in it. as well as that, you will get a feel (more than an understanding) of how keys fit into these types of music. another keyboardist i like in pop music is guy chambers who plays for robbie williams. another is chong lim who plays for john farnham.

my rule has always been that if i want to play a certain style of keyboard, to listen and listen and listen and listen to that style, and eventually you will. my selection is probably more pop/mainstream than other replies might be - not that they're bad - they just know more 'real' blues/jazz etc keyboardists than i do.

hope this helps.

pray for peace,

k
