From what I've read the RD700 has the new PA5 action. I recently "downgraded" my main weighted controller from an XV88 (PA4) to an RD700 because I found the RD's action to be slightly heavier and more responsive. I still haven't played the Kawai, but I now prefer the Roland PA5 over the better Yamaha actions and certainly over any Fatar action I've ever played.

Dano, the Motif8 has a "balanced-hammer" action so that you can get the same action across the whole keyboard. Neat concept, but I thought that the idea was to simulate the feel of a real piano(I felt like I was cheating, like I transposed when I played it). I just received a cd from Yamaha about the P-120(no wheels, controllers, smaller speakers, etc.), and it sounds better than the P-200: pianos, vibes, bass, especially the rhodes(WOW!!). Yamaha, what were you thinking, unless you have a new P-200 coming out. :P
Yamaha MODX8, Korg Kronos 2 61, Hammond B3, Novation 61SL MKII, Impulse 61, Roland D-550, Proteus 2000, etc......to name a few.

They could also make a 76-key model with the same action. Even lighter, ideal for gigs.

In fact, if they don't, I'm going to saw off both ends of a P80 and use *that* as a gigging piano. Don't think I'm joking... :D

I tried gigging with a P80 and it just plain wore me out.

The Studiologic 880 is the way to go for me. A bit light, perhaps, at home, but a great board when gigging with a band. The 990 you speak of does not have after touch, the 880 does. Plus you have 2 midis in it and 4 zone controls. I love it to pieces and got it for a measily 450 bucks at Sam Ash.
