The only reason to buy such an old instrument as a student instrument is that you can get it real cheap and it is all you can afford. For around the $800 mark you should be able to get a much more modern (in fact new) instrument with a fully weighted action. Assuming you are learning piano specifically, consider getting a real piano. There is yet to be built an electric that sounds as good as even a modest real piano - assuming it is tuned voiced and regulated adequately.
