Thomas Klepl
I really like the mellow, full bodied sound of the piano recording on many of Sarah McLachlan's songs.. namely "Angels", "Do What You Have to Do".. the piano takes on such a prominent role with all that low frequency content. Anyone know what kind of piano was played on these recordings and/or how the recording was made to give such a rich sound?
Pat Azzarello
I'm pretty sure she's a Bosendorfer artist. Pat http://www.patazzarello.com
Guest Room Warrior
I love that sound, too. Here's what it sounds like to me: A good piano, A great tuner, ('cause sonority gets to Sarah sooner) A mellow mic, A gentle touch, And too much reverb is just enough. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif - Jim Bordner Jim Bordner Gravity Music "Tunes so heavy, there oughta be a law." Thomas Klepl
Upon closer listening I think I have mistaken "full bodied piano sound" for what is actually piano plus bass layered together seamlessly. Maybe the bass was added later to make up for the lack of bass coming from the piano alone. The bass certainly doesn't play its own tune, rather it is supporting the piano. In any case, it sounds great.
