Llarion
Thanks PatAzz!! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif I enjoyed doing that arrangement... It's actually only live on my page right now because several of us on another board are considering doing an "all Silent Night" compilation for charity... I agree that it might be too much to pull off in time, unless someone had LOTS of bandwidth to coordinate it. I know *I* don't, but hey, it was a thought. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif I'd still do a covers CD, though I have NO idea what I'd cover... ------------------ Cheers! I dont want to say nothing else but explain why did I ask if it has to be "our version / tribute" or as close to the original as possible. My band started playing covers... and we almost mastered that art... One of my best memories consist on someone asking us to stop singing just to check if those were pre-recorded vocals or even worse, if we were lip-syncing to the original tune... http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif But doing our versions is always a good challenge ! How about a SALSA version of any american tune? Or a "soulish" version of a ballade... or funk ! Or an absolutely acoustic piano version of a rock tune... sweet... ------------------ Gus Lozada Moderador de: MusicPlayer.com/NuestroForo "La voz en Español en Música y Tecnología" Gus TraX @musicplayer.com Músico, Productor, Ingeniero, Tecnólogo Senior Product Manager, América Latina y Caribe - PreSonus at Fender Musical Instruments Company Instagram: guslozada Facebook: Lozada - Música y Tecnología www.guslozada.com

Dave Bryce
Okay - here's the deal... Since the other project is now officially wrapped, let's go ahead with this one. We're gonna have to skip the mp3 step, because they don't allow covers, so why don't you guys just start sendind me hard copies of your cover tunes? I'll keep the same PO box for a while longer: David Bryce PMB 669 2060-D Avenida de Los Arboles Thousand Oaks, CA, 91362-1361 Keep the tunes under 5 minutes. I'm gonna set the submission deadline for the end of November, unless someone has a good reason why that's too short - I figure two months is long enough, and then maybe we can have them done in time for the holidays. I'll start another thread where you guys can post when you've sent your tunes in, and what tune you're doing if you feel inclined to tell people what that is - otherwise, it can be a surprise...that might be cool as well. How's that sound? Anybody wanna suggest any modifications? dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <==

Rod S
I'm in ... tentatively. We'll see. My stuff is getting shipped in 2 weeks, so I doubt I'll get pretty far until then! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif My song will probably be 80's synth pop... depending on my brother's schedule I might try to do something power pop-rock with him - I want to try to pick something REALLY cheesy from the 80s. I have 3 in mind so far. I'll probably due a very close recording with minor changes. Dave Bryce
I'm gonna submit a cover of an old Genesis song from The Lamb called "The Light Dies Down on Broadway" that I did a few months ago. Big fun. I used the never-to-be-seen-by -anyone Alesis Film Score QCard, and more synths than you can shake a stick at. I'm really pleased with the way that it came out... dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <==
synthetic
I will try to submit, but that deadline may be tight for me. We'll see. I have a good idea for a tune and arrangement. As far as posting the files, we don't need a central server to post all of the links to. All we need is a location for a web page which points to where all of the files are, then everyone can upload their files wherever. For example, Mac users get 5 or 10 MB of free webspace on Apple. I also get free webspace by using Earthlink. So I could upload my tune on either site, then just post the link somewhere. -jl

I also get free webspace by using Earthlink. So I could upload my tune on either site, then just post the link somewhere. I'd rather skip the mp3 step this round. Here's why: First of all, the idea behind including the mp3 phase on the last project was because the original idea was that we'd be voting on whose tunes made the CD. Since everyone's tunes made the CD, that step was kind of unnecessary. It was cool because it got people psyched, but I don't think that we need to do that for this round. Secondly, the mp3 phase takes time, and prolongs the completion of the project. I'd rather see it finished quicker this time - I'd love to have it done by the holidays if we can. Third, because it's cover tunes, I think that it'd be more fun to wait and see what everyone's stuff sounds like until the project is completed. We can all list what tunes we're doing, but actually hearing them together on the completed CD for the first time appeals to me. dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <==
Rod S
My suggestion is whoever needs 'production help' (probably my case since I'm a even bigger rookie with vocals that i am with recording synths http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif ), can post it at their own will in the own web space and ask for comments. Is the plan to mail it to you again Dave, or are we going to send it directly to a mastering house? Blades
Maybe that I'm sticking my neck out too far here, but I like to do cover tunes (although not usually very popular ones), and I'd love to contribute, as covers are so difficult for people to hear, unless you can get "approval" for them. Magpel
I'm in.
