michael saulnier Posted April 21, 2001 Posted April 21, 2001 You're an idiot if you get a Mac. First of all what kind of name is Mac? Some sissy boy up at Apple headquarters must have dreamed that up while he was having his pedicure... And what about "Apple"... the ultimate "kiss ass" fruit... I mean what other self respecting fruit would allow itself to be used in such a blatantly self-serving way by millions of school kids... "an apple for the teacher"... How about $50 bucks for the teacher? Do you think the school boards across America would allow outright cash bribery of their administration... No! But an apple is somehow OK? Sure the Mac has a cool looking, easy to use GUI, but what are you, some kind of wimp? Is your intellect so stunted that you can't remember a few thousand command line commands? It's because of people like Apple that dolts like you even have the ability to use a computer... and that's not a good thing. I mean, what are YOU going to do with a computer? Solve complex world problems? Invent new ways of feeding the teeming masses? Design a better nuclear bomb? NO! You're far more likely to use the crutch of a Mac to surf porn when you're not "writing" some inane music forum post, or "composing" some gibberish you laughingly call music. Sit down right now and write down all the reasons you need a computer... and if any of the words have more than five letters... consider getting a real computer... and running a real operating system. guitplayer (TPFIC) This message has been edited by guitplayer on 04-21-2001 at 03:59 PM I'm still "guitplayer"! I understand that one of the main features of DP3 is that it is going to support multiple processors, not just dual ones, so that when the G5 (which I'm told will have quad processing) finally rears its head, DP will already be prepared for it. If anyone here knows more on the subject, I would welcome a more educated view on the subject. David Frangioni's forum may also be a good place to ask this. dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <== Professional Affiliations: Royer Labs • Music Player Network
b_3guy Posted April 23, 2001 Posted April 23, 2001 I have a friend who is entertaining a new Mac. He is looking at the Dual 533mhz. In audio recording, what taxes the processor the most is using plugins. With a particular system you might be able to run 32 tracks. But the moment you put 3 or 4 plugins on these tracks, your machine might get into trouble. It must be better otherwise my friend would be looking at the faster single processor. I also think that Motu wouldn't be supporting this configuration if it wasn't the way to go. Obviously DP3 is going to allow you to dedicate one of the processors to plugin usage.
