tjjazzpiano
Don't do you tube. Plus these folks have heard plenty of me around here...just go to the soundcloud page and take your pick... Man, your tunes on Soundcloud are really exceptional. I wish you made videos so it'd be easier for me to steal your language. Did you know our buddy Tom (7notemode) just came out with an album? I've been checking it out and it's really great. Lots of free improvisation on modes or ostinatos which he does so well. linwood
Nice TJ. You sound great and I dig the security cam vibe of the venue. Thanks, Mike.
wmp
My house music play list for between sets is all rare recordings of folks I (sort of) know. That awesome version of Alfie you did to try out your new harmonica is one of my favorites. That and SK's Girl From Ipanema get a lot of notice. There's some incredibly well played and well recorded music in this thread. For contrast, this is a pickup band I put together doing their first full rehearsal at a private party gig last Saturday in 90+ degree heat with dew points in the mid to upper 70s. Because I'm old, tired, blind, and suffering from a few days of heat stroke, the borrowed handheld recorder was set to mono and way too hot. The compressor was working overtime. It's a rush job meatball recording of a rush job meatball gig, but I still had a blast. I'm pretty rusty after not playing for almost most two years, and I wasn't much to begin with. Suzanne threw this one at me after my gear was packed up for the gig and I just had to give it a try because I wanted to hear her sing it. She said she didn't notice all my clams, probably because she was too busy making me look good. http://B3and88.com/audio/2012/08-04-12/have-a-little-faith.mp3 And a few with the whole crew. http://B3and88.com/audio/2012/08-04-12/space-captain.mp3 http://B3and88.com/audio/2012/08-04-12/sing-it.mp3 http://B3and88.com/audio/2012/08-04-12/why-get-up.mp3 http://B3and88.com/audio/2012/08-04-12/goodnight.mp3 I'm definitely keeping the singers and the drummers. linwood
That's great, wmp! That sounds like a fun band to play with and to go listen to. I cut the vocal to Love Dance this morning.
wmp
That's great, wmp! That sounds like a fun band to play with and to go listen to. I'm going to take a screen shot of that and make it my wallpaper for a while. Thanks for the kind words! Everybody had great time. Introducing the two drummers is easily the coolest thing I've ever done. None of the boys met any of the girls until game day. Everybody got a tune list and three or four weeks to do their homework. I spent most of that time expanding my keyboard amp into a PA system. One vocal rehearsal. The drummers knew the stuff better than I did and totally nailed it all day long. A couple of months ago I felt up to playing a little and wished for a band with this lineup doing delta flavored material and a few fun gigs. I feel like a kid who wished for a pony. Now I have to feed it and take care of it if I want to keep it. I'll have to come up with a name for it and everything. I cut the vocal to Love Dance this morning. Your stuff always floors me. You've got the great gear and you sure do know how to use it. That lady can certainly sing. Every time I hear a commercial that doesn't suck I wonder if it was you. If you take requests, I lost the link to that shoe commercial you did ... $9.99? Are you out of your mind? Catchy stuff. I may want to cover that one. linwood
LOL! I remember that spot. It was for a shoe store. Glad you dug this singer. She's one of the bg singers for Prince. She's prolly done a couple hundred jingles for me, too. She's a pleasure to work with. Very fast and in tune.

Jazzwee
As many years as I've been here, I don't think I've posted much of what I do, so now that I see this thread, I will take a dip. This is a live recording of my band (I'm the leader). Perhaps a little louder than your typical jazz trio...Sorry for the poor recording quality. I just stuck the recorder off the one side and piano is furthest away. Red Clay (Excerpt) https://www.box.com/s/af32a168dd66a471bf14 We've been getting a lot of gigs lately and although we play straight ahead, it's been sounding different so I've been giving it the label "Groove Jazz". This particular gig was with guitar players but more often I have horns. We will butcher the rhythm of standards like Mr PC or Footprints in Funk. But they keep calling us back so must not be too bad Quote Hamburg Steinway O, Crumar Mojo, Nord Electro 4 HP 73, EV ZXA1

Jazzwee
Solid trio. Wish the balance was a bit better but certainly liked what I heard. Thanks much Tompass. It was a quintet (although it could have passed as a quartet on the recording). David R
So much fantastic music in this thread that I need to catch up on. Linwood, your orchestration and mixing is always impressive! That version of "Love Dance" is gorgeous. Here's an excerpt from my new EP with my Brazilian piano trio (we're all Canadian, but we play Brazilian music). jpgxk3
Our band BreakawyGroup played last night at Nikon Theater Jones Beach; we played the side stage in the pavilion opening the night for The Doobies and Chicago. We had a great night all around. I took my SK2, 2101 mkii with a 2-10 bottom cabinet. Rough recording, but not too bad. Doobies were fine, Chicago rocked the house. Seannn
I always talk about recording this and that, but I don't think I've ever shared my demos with you guys! Well, I may as well. Here's something, rough as it may be, for an upcoming project that might see the light someday: http://soundcloud.com/weareblackmagic/where-things-stay-the-same. It would eventually feature a full band. I write in a lot of different styles and am working on some solo stuff (somewhat unlike that demo), which I will release in due time, but I've decided to share this anyways. I won't get into the specifics unless asked, but I used a pad on the Juno-G, the Juno-60 for most of the synth parts (recorded through a reverb and analog delay pedal), and a slightly overdriven Korg R3 for some of the lead synth stuff. Onboard effects from Logic; Korg Monotribe for drums. Enjoy I love listening to your stuff! mauriziodececco
OK, after months of lurking, here is a link to my music; i would really appreciate your feedback. http://www.myspace.com/mauriziodececco There are six compositions of three different period; Carmen and Venezia are a kind of pseudo acoustique European minimalist stuff, made across 90s and 00s; Quest and Nostalgia are two long repetitive electronic compositions that will make you think about the Tangerine Dream era; and finally MR and Japanese Impressions are my first serious compositions, around 1990. Japanese Impression was in the Usenet Tape compilation in 89 (or 88) and it have been broadcasted at the time by a university radio somewhere (i still keep the letter , and used in some tv transmission in france (do not know which one, i just received some royalty money, a few dollars ; i tell this not because i feel a great professional artist, but because it is the only composition i wrote to be heard outside of my house :->.
