I was interested in the 76-note MC1000 and played it a bit in the store because I was seeking for a *portable* weighted controller.

I didn't buy it in the end, for the following reasons:

1) The weighting of the keys is only so and so. However I am a pianist, and you could find that you're less demanding than me about weighting.

2) Only a numeric display. You can give your patches numbers, but not names. Again, it depends on your needs; if you only need a few different MIDI routings (that is, splits, transposes, etc.) it could not be a problem.

3) Only two zones! In year 2000 this is just unforgivable. Processors are fast these days, and a few Kb of space for the code are cheap. I see this as a way to force the serious musician to look at their bigger, more expensive models. It didn't work for me; I already have a very good 88-key weighted master (Fatar 2001), and I was just looking for portability.

Hope this helps
