Al Coda Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 This guy posted 12/3/00 and still no one has responded until now. Just thought I give him some love. Steve George used Yamaha DX7, TX816, Oberheim Xpander and Emulator II a lot. That´s what I remember from the past. Can be he also used a KX88 for the TX816. OTOH, Mr.Mister was founded already in 1982 as a successor of "Pages" and he was a session artist,- so I assume he used more and earlier gear in general too. A.C.

Al Coda Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 does anyone know what keyboard and patch were used on the song by mr. mister / kyrie Nord Lead. Surprise. Mr.Mister broke 1990 and Nord Lead appeared 1995. Well, much can be done w/ a Nord Lead but Steve George´s top keyboard was mostly, if not always, a DX7 and later a DX7mk II. There´s also a vid showing another keyboard live which I´d identify as a Emax or EIII keyboard sampler as one of the top boards. Anyway,- on all the Mr.Mister records, there are 6 OP FM, analogue subtractive sounds and EMU samples all over. Tons of stacked patches, as always in the 80th. A.C.

mcgoo Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 a little OT, but.... I remember reading an interview with Pat Mastelotto (their drummer) about getting to know Bruford when he played with him in King Crimson. Bruford had never heard of Mr Mister or Broken Wings or Kyrie. That must have been delightfully humbling- to have been in a band with that kinda success & then meet what I'm guessing may have been a childhood idol & have the guy be totally oblivious to you & your contributions to music. I'm sure he took it in stride. I mean, c'mon.... how often do ya get to jam with Bill Bruford? Custom Music, Audio Post Production, Location Audio www.gmma.biz https://www.facebook.com/gmmamusic/

Mark Zeger Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Every since Winwood used a Nord Lead on "While You See A Chance", that synth has shown up on everything.
Griffinator Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 It's a little known fact that Louis Armstrong played a Nord Lead. A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.
Dana. Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 It's a little known fact that Louis Armstrong played a Nord Lead. That's incorrect. I've been to his apartment in Queens. He actually played a DX7.

He actually played a DX7. Yeah, but that was late in his career, when he was trying to go all retro. When he lived in Chicago, he was a Red man all the way.
