Rob Wallace Posted November 10, 2000 Posted November 10, 2000 This follows on from a reply I submitted to the "Programming your own sounds" thread. Does anyone have any suggestions for examples of Classic songs that were inspired by a particular synth sound, or songs that include a Classic synth sound which evolved as the song was being written? Pim Posted November 14, 2000 Posted November 14, 2000 It seems that no one knows an example, including myself. I can tell you how I work when composing and arranging my songs. I divide my working days in two ways: 1. being creative 2. being productive Being creative means composing, and I don't spend any time in programming sounds. (just a little filter adjustments - that's all) On other moments when nothing seems to work, I program sounds. Dozens of them. Including effects on my TC Electronic Fireworx. I can't tell what comes first, the chicken and the egg story, but I need both states of mind. ------------------ www.dancewave.nl My Music I always wondered what happened after the fade out?

"Jump"? Sorry - couldn't resist... http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I love to surrender to the toys - I definitely have pieces of music that were inspired by just aimlessly wandering around the architecture of my synths and/or drum units. I find my Wavestation is a particularly effective device for steering me in new and unusual directions; also, I've had a few really neat ideas spring from playing with my DM Pro recently. It is always interesting and educational for me to explore this method of creating, and it usually takes me places where I don't normally go if I'm composing by trying to find or craft a sound based on a feeling/emotion/inspirational vibe that's already in my head. Not better, not worse, but definitely different. dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <== Professional Affiliations: Royer Labs • Music Player Network
