big K
Hello all, I have a bit of a problem here, I may be taking over a project, but the files are coming from a mac (using pro tools free and what ever comes with the new metric halo interfaces) I am on a laptop PC using cubase SX... any one know how I can get this happening? also can cubase import that guys project file? so I don't have to chop it all up and figure all this other stuff out. henryrobinett
If you have the ability to read SDII files there should be little problem. You probably won't be able to read any of the fades, volume, automation info. I don't use Cubase but I believe we should be OK. I have a Metric Halo interface. It's just an interface. Has no bearing. All the best, Henry Robinett
SoundWrangler
Actually, I haven't had much luck reading SDII files from a Mac using SX/Win. Since Cubase SX doesn't support OMFi in the current release, you can't really bring the "session" doc. per se into Cubase SX. Fortunately you can Convert After Bounce in PT Free. Make 'em WAVs. (Or, just bounce out of PT Free as normal SDIIs, & then batch convert to WAV with some other prog.) Best bet is probably to use the PT Solo buttons, bounce each of the tracks (or stereo track pairs) to a WAV file - from beginning to end of the piece, regardless of where the Regions are actually located, which will make re-aligning everything SO much easier later. Presumably, you DO want any vol. automation they've already done, but good to check on that just in case. Oh yes, & unless they've done something really unique & special with FX in PT Free, better for them to disable all that, & let you do it your way in SX. If MIDI is being used, PT Free can also export out a Std. MIDI File, of course.
Anderton
I second Soundwrangler's approach -- save out each track as its own wav file, then bring into Cubase and add your processing, plug-ins, etc. using SX.
