DINNER PARTY IN NYC AT THE AES CONVENTION

Recommended Posts

I'll be organizing a party for you guys who will be travelling up to NYC for the AES show.

It'll be at my brother's own restaurant on Wall St, an upscale authenthic Sicilian cuisine joint, and even if I won't be there because of my accident, I'll be there in spirit, and I'll call you guys up during the dinner.

Dansouth has been there already so he should lead the way.

Somebody make a list of names here, and agree on a date, and I'll set it up.

Drinks will be on me and my brother, all nite, and he's gonna work out something reeeeeally convenient for the food tab (that's not a spaghetti & meatball type of place!).

so, as I said, please put down here in this post the names, and choose a date, so I can tell my bro how many and when.

Actually, let me appoint Dansouth to do this.

Dan, please be the MC. Decide when, and we'll get the names down.

it's surely you + girl,

Curve,

Craig,

probably Dave Bryce,

Julian Standen,

Valkyrie,

and let's see who else.

Max,

I am at your service and glad to help in any way that I can. However, I want to point out that the restaurant is NOT on Wall Street. It's a block north of City Hall on Reade Street (about a half-mile north of Wall). It's in a nice neighborhood.

Would those of you with conflicts please contact me (or just post) regarding schedules, events, etc? We'll try to pick a date that works for the largest number of participants.

Dan

You mean those rowdies who want to kill each other? http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif

I'm pretty slow on the bottle myself. We may end up being the designated drivers. I assume that you can drive on the right, nudge nudge, wink wink. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif The good news is that in New York, you just have to put the drunks in a cab and forget about them.

Dan, grazie. Io pero' non posso venire, I can't travel with this broken shoulder I have. Also, when exactly is the date of the Convention? So I can pre-alert Claudio, my bro, and he tells me if he has any other big party in those days; we also have to match his schedule. That place is often booked.

Man...I'll be at AES the whole show, but I usually have too many business committments (meetings, silly awards shows and so on) that I never get a chance to hang out and do the socializing thing.

Please let us know when the exact day/time/place is decided. I might try to sneak away and at least have a drink and say hi to you folks.

I am very happy by the response.

I spoke to my brother yesterday and he said ALL drinks are gonna be on the house. Open bar all nite.

The dinner is gonna be top quality regional italian food, fixed menu (gotta make it easy for them too), but mind you, this is nothing like you had in your typical spaghetti & meatball type of dinner: this is REAL, modern italian cuisine.

Also, Claudio said that on Fridays they have setup a DeeJay booth and the place is moving away from the besuited/powerbroker type clientele they have during the day, and it's becoming really trendy.

Remember everybody to ask my brother Claudio about his music project, and the champagne will be floodin' the aisles!

Massimo, that sounds cool, and it seems as if Claudio is pointing us towards Friday, so we should consider Friday then. Dan?...

Anytime is fine with me. I'm still waiting to hear from those who may have schedule conflicts.

Cool, let's do it Friday night then, when the vibe of the venue is conducive, and our host has seemed to indicate as such.

Friday September 21.

If anyone has schedule conflicts, email me, and I'll be glad to help arrange for parties on other nights throughout the weekend. There is a possibility that the Curve will be performing live with his cohort DJ Lorne somewhere on Manhattan Island at some point that weekend (probably at The Tunnel, but don't quote me on that); if that happens we'll do a tie-in with the crew, and get y'all on the list. No guarantees mind you, but let's play it by ear.

Yeah, Dan , I know, but my fisiotherapist says I have at least 8 months to go before I recover the use of my shoulder, and everything is difficult to do in this situation - let alone flying and travelling.

However, I booked the restaurant for Friday Sept. 21, around 9 pm, and I told Claudio that Curve is gonna perform too, so the resident DJ will lend him the PA.

The prix-fixe, 7-courses-plus-trimmings dinner is gonna be 35 bucks apiece, free top quality wines and free imported beer all nite, and cocktails too (that basically translates to OPEN BAR, but my bro says he doesn't want that to be known openly because there will be another small party that night that will NOT get open bar).

Now, I said about 25 people to be large.

Curve, call me one of these days during office hours so you tell me what you need for equipment to be performing there. From the US you dial 011-39-721-833014, if you get a recorded message means the lines are all busy.

Remember I work 10 am/1 pm, 3 pm/7 pm, but I am 6 hours ahead of you so don't call when here it's midnite.

Max - Please thank Claudio for us. I'll try to stop by and see him soon to thank him in person and take care of any other arrangements. I'll remind everyone to use discretion. Hopefully, the other party will leave before we get too trashed.

I'll rev up this thread again as the date draws near, so that we can get an approximate headcount.

Grazie ancora, amico!

Daniele
