Do different SCSI cards use more or less CPU power ?

Adaptec vs. ATTO vs. Formac ?

Roger Nichols was writing, in response to one of my posts, that he's much happier after switching to ATTO SCSI cards. One of the tech support people at Steinberg alluded to problems with Adaptec cards and CPU overloads, even at moderate SCSI bus speeds. Another forum talked about SCSI cards and the huge amount of "bandwidth" that some cards use.

How do we know before we buy that a particular card will be 'easy' on CPU power/bandwidth ?

What should we look for ?

Are certain hardrives easier on CPU's ?

Those of us using host based systems need every little bit of power we can save.
