Anderton
Well? Is it working for you?!? What music programs work with Linux? I found an MP3 DJ type program when I searched on the web, but not much else. Guest
this is a rich resource of projects that people are building with Linux. http://www.bright.net/~dlphilp/linuxsound/ a lot of the work is academic, but you will find things here that fill niches that the commercial software world forgot about years ago. People build tools for their own use and you get to look over their shoulder and maybe even contribute. The site maintainer, Dave Phillips, has posted some useful starting points for the casual user here: http://www.bright.net/~dlphilp/linuxsound/dp_choice.html The Alsa project has developed open source drivers for a wide variety of hardware. The OggVorbis project is a compressed mp3-like format that does not have ugly licensing restrictions like those imposed by Thomson. You can find things like jMax and arcane software synthesis environments. So find a project that does something that you can use, and contribute with bug reports and documentation and suggestions. Linux is a good thing. This message has been edited by spokenWard@netscape.net on 06-15-2001 at 02:51 PM
