GY
I installed the 2408 software first as suggested using the Wave Diver default. Installed the PCI-324 hardware as suggested. The first time I booted a small screen came up briefly and I believe it said it was installing drivers, I think. (I didn't pay much attention expecting an easy install). Then a MOTU screen came up. I don't remember what that screen said, but my computer was locked up. Mouse was frozen. I turned the computer off. I turned it back on. After running "scan disk" it takes a long time to get to the Windows desktop and is frozen. Mouse will not move. Completely locked up. Good thing I have another computer! I read the "Windows troubleshooting" document that seems to apply on the MOTU web site, but I'm not sure what I do once I get into the "safe mode"? Can you delete the software install from there? Emailed MOTU... no answer. Thought I'd ask this wonderful group of BETA testers before I call them. Thanks! GY
Hippie
I'd try to boot up in safe mode, and remove the whole thing from ctl panel+system+device mgr., reboot, then try a different PCI slot and reinstall. (read the directions again, sometimes you have to load the software 1st, then the hardware.) If no slots are available, you may have to "force" it's basic configuration or IRQ to a new number. (this is done in CTLPANEL+SYSTEM+DEVICEMGR., then from the list, highlight your MOTU card+Properties+resources+change basic configuration...). You can find out what IRQ's each device in your computer is already being used, by going into ctlpanel+system+device mgr.+double clicking on "computer". You will then see the list of devices with their associated numbers (IRQ's), probably between 0 and 15, assign your PCI card one of those that is not being used on the list. -Hippie In two days, it won't matter. GY
Thanks Hippie I did install the software first as MOTU suggests. I will try your advice. You spelled it out much better than their DOC did. I thank you! GY
GY
1GHz Dell Win 98se I spent over an hour on the phone with MOTU support today. Tried ASIO drivers. No luck. Tried PCI-324 in a different slot. No luck. Gave the PCI-324 it's own IRQ. No luck. No solution. This message has been edited by GY on 06-07-2001 at 08:48 PM GY
Hippie
Is the slot(s) turned on in your bios? -Hippie In two days, it won't matter.
GY
I looked in the BIOS and saw no options for the IRQs. I had disabled a network card to free up an IRQ earlier today. Tomorrow I'm going to take the 2408/PCI-324 to a friend and try installing it on his Win 98. That way I might be able to rule out a problem with the PCI 324. I'll post the news. Thanks again Hippie for your help. GY
seclusion
Sounds like a bogus 324 card.. Shit happens.. Take her back to the store for a new one.. I've had my 2408/324 on 3 machines now.. No problems at all installing it.. Both on Se2nd, and Win Me.. I hate that shit when it happens... MOTU support is aweful.. But hey... If the music thang don't go.. You could be a computer repair guy.. Good luck.. Brian Smile if you're not wearin panties.
GY
Card is now working! I had to disable two devices from the computer BIOS. It didn't work in Device Mgr. You had pointed me in the right direction, Hippie. Some of these computer issues take some homework, advice and a lot of perseverance. Thanks for the help. I may need more!
