Dave Lang
OK, I'm probably being really paranoid, but.... I'm travelling to do some recording. I'm bringing a Neumann TLM103 with me. I don't have a "road case" for it and would like to just put it in my carry on luggage. Somebody asked me today if there would be a problem running it through the airport's x-ray machine at security. I don't have a clue - I know you can put a laptop, etc. through, but never thought about a condenser mic. Help! thx dave Dave Lang www.davelang.com www.davesbarandgrill.net
remainanon
You have no problem whatsoever. Except if they drop it on the floor. JW
Notape_dup1
If anything, the X-Ray will make the mic more "transparent" http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gifhttp://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Badum-bum-bshhhhh.....
Curve Dominant
If you hit some turbulance, it may pop out of the overhead compartment and land in your martini, so be sure and keep a popscreen over that martini glass at all times. Nawor
Just think you can say "My Neumann goes all the way up to 36k!... is really 'fast', 'transparent' and has the 'X' factor!'.... offers please?" F7sound -
I've run other (cheaper) condenser mics through airport x-rays without a hitch. You can always ask the security officer to "hand check" the mic. They shouldn't have any problems with that. Imperial
Or, if your REALLY worried, just do what the drug trafficers do, and insert it in a body cavity until you pass through the line. Ha Ha.
