-
Check it out... http://biz.yahoo.com/rf/010605/n05231049.html I still don't understand what the result would be... Is Napster going to distribute mp3s from the labels themselves? Or secure streaming-type stuff? Is Napster going to let users swap music? Or are they going to be cashing in on the Napster brand name but totally change the way the service works? I don't get it. Any ideas?

alphajerk
funny, aimster is actually PROTECTED by the same copyright law the riaa put in place so the industry cant monitor them. and gnutella [bearshare] cant be gone after as there is no one to "go after" its a decentralized system. alphajerk FATcompilation "if god is truly just, i tremble for the fate of my country" -thomas jefferson
-
There's an update here: http://www.wired.com/news/mp3/0,1285,44322,00.html It appears they're turning Napster into a very different kind of service... If I'm reading this right, it doesn't look like it will be a P2P service at all -- it'll be more like a pseudo web/ftp site where you can download things they provide for you...? According to the article, they will have a basic subscription "channel" for indie music and then a premium "channel" for major label music.
