MojoHaiku
I'm seriously thinking about unloading some gear, but, before I do, I'd like to figure out what the going value is. Isn't there a "blue book" for music gear? Is that kind of resource available online? Any suggestions on the best way to assess what the reasonable value of used gear is prior to selling it off? Thanks, Jim

DC
Never checked prepal before, pretty cool. You can also check ebay and digibid etc and search what you're selling. This will show you what people are willing to pay for gear. -David http://www.garageband.com/artist/MichaelangelosMuse

Sir Bob
The term "used gear" is vague. A 40-year-old Fender guitar may be used but its worth $5,000 to $10,000. At the other extreme, an Alesis Midi Verb II went for $400 about 10 years ago but would be much less today. Just about new effects box will out perform ones only a few years old. Keyboards too. See many Roland D-50's lately? Yamaha DX-7's? Okay, some of you will say they love these but your best bang for your buck is a new one. I wonder about the risk in buying a used microphone. Certainly you would want to use it awhile before buying it.
Duhduh
One bad thing about Blue Books for instrumenst or music gear is that this type of equipments price is usually subject to region. For example, 70's Ibanez Les Paul copies are a dime a dozen on e-Bay. But in Orange County(CA) they are rare and in big demand. "Meat is the only thing you need beside beer!
