fet
I spent a few days in my parents' cable-TV-equipped home last weekend, so I thought I'd catch a little MTV - which I hadn't viewed in years - to catch up with some cutting-edge year-'01 pop culture. I found this: bikini girls on the beach, participating in a pie-eating contest(!) to honor the movie "Tomb Raider". A PIE-EATING CONTEST!? I couldn't believe it. "Hee-Haw" was better than this - funnier too. First thoughts: Contempt: for the advertisers that support this nonsense Pity: for the poor young dupes that participate in and view this network Realization: that every function of my own life is way hipper than anything that appears on MTV. If I remember Mark Twain's words right: "The Lord must love fools - he made so many of them."
Gus Lozada
... and you were lucky enough you did not see those two shows called: (1) The TOM GREENE Show (2) Jackass You know, at my 29 y/o I am not now an MTV lover but when I see it ("Behind The mUsic" shows are excellent) and I get those shows, man... yes, I do laugh a lot but are extremely offensive for the rest of the audiences... GusTraX P.S. Bikinis? Could you tell me what time that show is? http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ... nevermind...
