videoeditor1
I have to get the serial numbers / model numbers of a bunch of gear we're using over the next few weeks. 1/2 of the dammed gear, the info is on a little sliver of paper and it's all blurry. I always hear of studio horror stories where gear gets swiped. With easy to remove, easy to replicate ID tags, it's much easier for the criminal element. All of my "computer" gear has those metal stampable plates with my company info, but I can't easily do that with the audio stuff cuz some of it is rented. Biggest offenders so far... hiraga
I do this. Fuck the MFG's numbers. I make my own. Big yellow tag with my own system. Never had a prob with the ensurance company. I also have numbers inside as well, scratched into the metal.
David R.
I.D. inside is a great thing. I do this with lots of gear. Saved me one time, at a gig. Someone was insisting that the SM58 I was packing away was theirs. I called over the drummer (witness), unscrewed the windscreen, and showed him my name taped on the base. Not much he could do about that. -David R. -David R.
