I am Chinese, live in Los Angeles, CA, and was born in Germany. I speak a little Spanish, but need more practice. In July, I am traveling to Peru for one month. I make atmospheric (supposed to be an accent over the "e") and mysterious (enigmatic) music with my group Nectar and in my studio as Eleven Shadows (I'm not sure if "como" is correct here). Sorry -- my Spanish is ugly... P.S. I picked up about 90% of my Spanish last time I went to Peru for a month in 1998, and then again in 1999 for my two weeks in southern Spain. dansouth
Viva GUS! Viva Mexico! !Gus es el mejor para un forum en espanol! - Um, well, this thread kind of got off track, and we STILL haven't identified anyone from outside of Europe or North America. But I DO know that there's a guy from the Philippines on these boards who goes by the name of Sergievsky. I once received an email from someone in South America who got my name from these forums, so they're definitely out there...
kudyba
A little off-topic here but I was just in Costa Rica this past weekend and boy was I happy that my high school Spanish came in handy...what a beautiful country...we did the canopy tour zipping from tree to tree... If those offers to moderate are genuine, we'd be thrilled to start a Spanish language forum. It's probably be great if we had 2-3 co-moderators who could handle questions on multiple topics. Whoever has interest, e-mail Craig canderton@musicplayer.com and myself rkudyba@musicplayer.com and give us your background and what topics you'd have a preference covering. Gus Lozada
I already asked it to Craig. I e-mailed a copy to you Kudyba... BTS: Perhaps the best of having a Spanish Forum is the ability to help others while talking in the same language. Most of the times there is a lot of jargon even non-native advanced level English speakers can not handle. It does not matter how good or bad do you speak Spanish. If you can handle my english... http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif, ok, KEN ? Excellent Idea... and welcome everybody. Anderton
Okay, let's do it! I will be emailing those concerned about how to get the forum happening. Please please please please tell your friends and get them involved!! We took quite a risk when we did the German language forum, many people here were afraid we'd get only a few posts. That forum's moderator, Dr. Walker, is a very creative and "tuned-in" guy who was able to get people to come to the forum, as well as convince manufacturers to set up links to it. We need the same kind of community effort to make a Spanish language forum happen. Stay tuned...it's coming... soapbox
Hola. I grew up in Arizona, so I only know 100 200 words of Spanish. I had to be different from my classmates, and I studied French in high school! I really enjoy the community on this site and I want to share some news with you. I just finished producing a Latin pop album by a new artist named Shy. We just received the CD refs of the album from mastering on Wednesday (6/6/01) and it turned out great! Ive produced plenty of cuts before, but this is the first full CD Ive ever produced, so Im very excited! We recorded a variety of musicians from South America and the United States, and it was a lot of fun to work on. I co-wrote three of the songs, played all of the keyboards, and arranged all of the music. The first single, "Sube La Marea," was just released and is already getting airplay in Chicago, New Orleans, and Phoenix. The CD should be out in August in Mexico and in the U.S. We plan to record the vocals in English sometime in the next few months. Wish us luck! Enthusiasm powers the world. dansouth
soapbox - Congratulations!!!! I can't wait to hear the CD. I have cold, hard cash ready as soon as it hits the stores. What music styles are represented?
soapbox
Well the main style is pop with a variety of Latin flavors. Our first single, "Sube La Marea," for example, has a brief clave break before the guitar solo. Enthusiasm powers the world. This is not the first time, the American doctors try to do surgery, on some of my friends too, they also went to Mexico, and found out it was not neccesary I guess American doctors like to cut people http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif! soapbox
ViLo, that's great! I'm very happy for your wife! I hope things continue to go well for her. I agree with you about American doctors sometimes being cut happy. My grandmother had surgery on her hand in Arizona, back in the 1980s. Not only did it fail to help the problem, but also my grandmother complained regularly about hand pain until her death in 1991. On the other hand, my mom fell and broke her arm while visiting Mexico City a few years ago, and she had nothing but good things to say about the care she received there. Everything healed perfectly and shes just fine now! Enthusiasm powers the world. Craig Anderton's Archiving Article
