ViLo
The MACKIE 1402 VLZPRO has 6 preamps, can I use the 6 at the same time? [i have an AKAI DPS16] If yes, how? Thanks, ViLo ------------------ HE'S COMING, MAKE MUSIC, BE HAPPY! Jesus Is Coming, Make Music, Get Ready!
Ralf
I don´t exactly get what you want to do. yes, of course you can use them at the same time. is your question "can I get 6 separate signals to my multitrack machine?"? If so, then YES. Run from the six insert points to your AKAI (plug em in to the first click only) Ralf Rock and Roll Aint Noise Pollution
Guest
I theink the 1404 is like the 1604 in that you can send the first half of the board (6 of which have preamps) into the recorder then return the signals from the recorder to channels 8 thru 14 for mixdown. But, yes the preamps should all function independantly and simultaneously.
ViLo
Yes, That's what I wanted to do, use the inserts on the 1402 but, one of the guys @ Guitar Center told me I can only use 2 using the main outs. Thanks, Guys ViLo ------------------ HE'S COMING, MAKE MUSIC, BE HAPPY! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif This message has been edited by ViLo on 05-22-2001 at 02:23 PM Jesus Is Coming, Make Music, Get Ready! ian_dup1
Well, unlike the 1604, the 1404 doesn't have individual outputs for each channel. What you want to do can be done, but you will need to use aux outs in conjunction with the main outs, and I'm not sure if you will be able to get more than four separate channels that way. The 1404 is a good board, but the 1604 is WAAAAAY more versatile. Ian

ViLo
I own the the 1604VLZ, but I use it to play live, and it's already on a rack wtih some more gear. I have enough money to buy the 1402VLZpro since I'm going to return my TC Finalizer Express is doing nothing for me. Ian Sorry, but your wrong. I'm sitting at my computer, looking at 6 inserts on the mono channels, just as others have stated. Important point ViLo, if you read the panel by the inserts, they are pre-fader, pre-eq. Therefore, you will only have gain control from the input gain pot to the recorder. However you can use the return side and monitor levels with the rest of the channel strip. Beware, this will be an unbalanced line, in both directions, but it will work. If you need long cables, pick up an Ebtech Hum Eliminator. They sell an 8 channel rack unit, in addition to the two channel box. This will allow you to use a short cable to the Ebtech, and true balanced XLR line to your recorder. (Assuming the input is true balanced, of course.) You may have to budget for the Ebtech in the near future, if cost is a consideration here. Neil It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Hmmm...could you possibly have meant YOU'RE wrong, as in the contraction of 'you are'? Sorry, pet peeve of mine http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/tongue.gif Anyway, I went and checked the back of my 1402, and of course you're right, there are 6 inserts on the back of the board. I'm an idiot...that'll teach me not to read the documentation. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/redface.gif Thanks for the correction--my 1402 just got a lot cooler.
