Tedster
(Sings): "Take me to the river...put me in the water..." No problem. Like I said, you've got a lot of good points. And I realize now that you were answering the initial post. Just felt that perhaps we were all being accused of ignoring our families, and that certainly isn't always the case. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
kkehrermsn.com
This is a question after my heart. When my second son was born my latest band broke up and I dropped out the music scene to regroup and eventually get a real job. For me chilling on my music career on concentrating on my family worked for a while until now that my sons were older(4 and almost 7). I am now working at a great paying job in D.C.(moved from Phoenix) and am building up my project studio that I started when I was working on my family and working jobs. I never stopped music I just shifted focus. That may or may not work for you. I always have to negotiate with your wife and kids for time and $ for my studio. Having a studio at home is a good thing as I've discovered, but, you have to poke your head out once in a while and give your family your time. If you're like me the music can never go away, but, you can make things work within your family. When your child gets older it will get easier, but, you probably will have to continue negotions. I usually propose trade offs with my wife and kids. I say, "If you give me the afternoon to finish this song, I will go with guys tto the park tommorow" Anyway, I'm sure I'll think of more things as time goes on. I have lots of experience juggling things. Feel free to email me at kkehrer@msn.com if you want to talk more about it. Kamakaze
seclusion
1 thing that's cool about workin a studio outa the house is that I have clients going through the house and I don't like them seein crap around so I end up being the cleanin guy.. The wife really hates that... The kid thing is a little more difficult cause when they're little, life revolves around them.. But mine have seemed to figure it out that it takes work to sound that good.. The little guy is doing lessons on Gtr now.. I just wish I had time to give him the lessons so he could miss all that finger pickin shit and start with the chording.. But he's only 7 now.. I'll wait a bit.. The daughter on the other hand.. I have no idea yet(She's 3).. I have more problems with the dog wanting to go for a walk than the kids buggin me.. But there're good kids.. I just make sure they don't sit in front of a tube for more than a couple hrs.. They don't see me doin it so they don't wanta much either.. Brian Brian Smile if you're not wearin panties.
