Curve Dominant
It's definitely the foam. Foam is big business. curvedominant Eric Vincent (ASCAP) www.curvedominant.com
dansouth
A live recording sounds good if it's in a good sounding room (assuming everything else goes well). If it's in a bad sounding room, it's not going to sound good. If you could get your studio to sound like Carnegie Hall, you could make some great records there without acoustic treatment. BUT, even if you COULD achieve this (unlikely), you would still be stuck with that sound. If, on the other hand, you record tracks with little or no room sound, you can give the illusion of other spaces later. You can make the recording sound like it was done in a church or a cave or a garage - whatever floats your boat.

Gus Lozada
This is the deal: You can record (with Microsoft's Studio Foam http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif ) things in a studio and make them sound just like you want them with the acoustics you can manipulate with software or hardware, if it's well recorded and post produced properly. That's the advantage of recording in a noise free environment: To Get the most natural sound possible, then manipulating it as desired. I guess you just can NOT record a live performance and make it sound like if it was on a Studio or create another kind of ambience... just because of the fact the mics can register the other live instruments or singers performances. Anyone agree? I've been on VS Planet for awhile, and you folks don't realize how lucky you are to be in such a sane place. The folks on VS Planet make me appreciate alphajerk. Barrett - you da man. I've seen the light. VS Planet done scared me straight. Not that I'm getting rid of my VS, but I definitely do not want to converse with another VS owner for quite some time. It makes me question my own sanity that such peeps could use the same gear that I've chosen to use. It's like Dante's Inferno on that bloody board. Remember Terry James? good morning
About who's coming... Instead of hinting around, can't anybody just say Jesus Christ? This is laughable. I'm sorry guys but the "HE'S COMING" phrase it was not there as part of a post is part of my signature, and I was not going to put the whole bible on it, because like Phil said I'm not trying to preach in this forum, again it just part of my signature, and stands for what I believe http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif Are we http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/cool.gif cool? coyote
I'll take a decent-sounding live recording over studio trickery every time. Tedster
Well, I confess... I haven't bought a 58 in years. Come to think of it, I've never bought a 58. I really had no idea what they went for, only that they were cheap relative to a Neumann. Geez, at that price, I'll go out and buy a dozen.
