Zorro
Hello all. You guys know sound gear better than me so, would buying a Real Time Analyzer, handheld unit, 10 band, made by RTA be worth while for a new soundman --->me http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/eek.gif? Thinking could measure the frequencies with this hand held unit, walk around the room, take several measurements and it would help with my setting of the EQ. Thanks for any replies and I enjoy his fourm! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif
Anderton
I don't do live sound, so those who can should feel free to agree/disagree. I have used an RTA in my studio as a "reality check." The one thing you have to be careful of is not to trust it too much. In other words, it's giving you hints, not laws. The main use I see is that it will train you by giving you feedback on what you hear. Eventually, you won't need it anymore because you'll walk into a venue and will have enough of a mental database to be able to say "Aha, lots of upper midrange absorption due to the plush covering on the seats..."
