gtr
Ok - I can't seem to get vegas audio to not pop. Everytime I do a cut on a track - or insert silence - it pops at the beginning and then again at the end of the edit. Have tried different things but must be missing something. Was told elsewhere that Craig is the king of vegas (since Elvis died) so here I am!
Uh Clem
maybe check for a setting that ensures you are cutting the wave at zero crossings - otherwise, you'll have to manually clean up the pops and clicks. I don't use vegas, but I saw them demo this feature on one of their "tours". Steve Powell - Bull Moon Digital www.bullmoondigital.com
Dylan
What's your computer setup like? Any info about your motherboard, CPU, OS, soundcard, etc will help us troubleshoot this problem. You might also try the Vegas forum over at www.sonicfoundry.com. I use Vegas 2.0b and have not experienced this issue, nor did I with version 1.0b. -Dylan
gtr
Thanks guys - here is some more info if it will help - P3 866 - 256 ram - Windows 98 SE -Asus CusL2 motherboard with the 815se chipset - Hammerfall 9652 card (with 3 lightpipes in and out and word clock) - it is a pretty frustrating thing - it is just simple editing that I have done easily on other software packages, but is driving me crazy on this one!! Dylan
Damn boy, that's a nice setup! Do you have the latest drivers for all of your hardware, most notably the hammerfall? Since the Hammerfall has very good Windows 2000 drivers, you might want to upgrade to Windows 2000 since it's a much more robust OS than Windows 9x. At any rate, you might want to read through some DAW Tips and Tricks that I made while working at Gadget Labs at http://www.gadgetlabs.com/tips_and_tricks.htm. You might also try reading through some of the RME FAQ's at http://www.rme-audio.com/english/techinfo/index.htm. Checking for the usual stuff like IRQ sharing, DMA support for your hard disk, etc. is all outline there. Good luck, Dylan Originally posted by gtr: Thanks guys - here is some more info if it will help - P3 866 - 256 ram - Windows 98 SE -Asus CusL2 motherboard with the 815se chipset - Hammerfall 9652 card (with 3 lightpipes in and out and word clock) - it is a pretty frustrating thing - it is just simple editing that I have done easily on other software packages, but is driving me crazy on this one!! jso6mailcity.com
I use a PIII 700 overclocked to 1050 with an Asus P3v4x, 128mb, 20gig barracuda and 17.5gig medalist, with a 1224 MOTU and have been using Vegas 1.0b for quite sometime now, and the only times I experienced those pops and clipping sounds were with Waves and Steinberg plugins. Try using other plugins if you are using them. and also try setting up Vegas and those plugins again. These plugins are very critical with levels both at the track and busses. Maybe your problem is there.
