emilio
I have an ART pro VLA compressor and a Behringer9024 multiband processor. Can I use them together to process my mix or should I use them apart like one for multitrack mixing and the other for mastering 2 track mixes. If in series, which should go first? Anderton
Putting two compressors in series is risky, unless you know how to set them to be very gentle and complementary. The multiband compressor is well-suited to mastering, whereas single channel compressors are better-suited to individual tracks that don't have a dense a range of frequencies. But those are guidelines, not rules. Use whichever sounds best for a given application. lrbreez
You would use the multi-band first (Behringer) them the ART. BTW how do you like the Behringer, I've had mine since May and I'm very impressed with it. Usually if you run compressors in series the second one is used as a limiter for digital overs. Anderton
>>Usually if you run compressors in series the second one is used as a limiter for digital overs.<< But if the compressor is opto-based, as I believe the ARTs are, they won't be fast enough to catch digital overs. And if you set any compressor for an ultra-short attack time, then you run the risk of distortion.
