Guest
Hi, On March 7 the doors to the Frankfurt Musik Messe will open. This is the European equivalent to NAMM but bigger with a lot more international visitors. I'm going there and I would enjoy meeting some MusicPlayer forum readers if you're going to attend. Should we set something up? See you! Mats Nermark Sweden

Tedster
Does one have to be a dealer to obtain entrance, as in NAMM? I'd really like to go, being as meine familie kommt aus Frankfurt, and I haven't been there. I'm still seeing what I could swing monetarily... johnnyvn
If I'm not mistaken, you do NOT have to be a dealer to attend MusicMesse in Frankfurt. I believe it lasts 2 days for the "trade" people and then 2 more days for "normal" people (not in the trade).

Hate to darken Mr. Anderton´s day, but every year a buddy or two from RTV Slovenija cruises to the Messe and it looks like I might be along for the ride this time. I would say "see you there", but knowing those fun-loving guys, I´d better say "see two of you there" http://www.mp3.com/Kosmolith This message has been edited by dadabobro@yahoo.com on 02-02-2001 at 10:37 AM
Anderton
There are three industry days, Wed-Fri, and two "public" days, Sat-Sun. I don't recall how much it costs to get in on public days, but I think it's $25 or so... Also don't forget to budget for the expensive wurst and other more or less edible trade show food. Fortunately the german hotels habitually put up a really sturdy breakfast (usually included) so I tend to eat so much at that occasion that I really don't need to eat anything until the evening. Speaking of which ... the hotels are also expensive and a tourist class hotel is way below the standard you expect from the a tourist class hotel in the US. Welcome to Europe! Anderton
>>Speaking of which ... the hotels are also expensive and a tourist class hotel is way below the standard you expect from the a tourist class hotel in the US.<< Right now the Dollar vs. Mark situation is very favorable, so that helps. Also, you can get hotels outside of town for less, and the S-Bahn will get you right to the show now that there's a stop right at the Messe. Finally, the Messe people have a program where you can stay with a family in a guest room for very little bucks. Haven't done this myself, but know people who have, and they've been satisfied with the cost-effectiveness. Anderton
Hey Frankfurters - Rumor has it that Dr. Walker and others (including yours truly) will be playing at a party on the 10th, after the show. Not sure where the party is, but given that Walker's involved, it should be fun. I think he's also going to be at the Jomox booth and I may stop by there and jam too. If you liked my gigs at MacWorld and NAMM, then you gotta see Walker...he's like the concentrated, industrial-strength version of what I do (which I basically learned from him anyway http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif) Craig Anderton Educational site: http://www.craiganderton.org Music: http://www.youtube.com/thecraiganderton Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/craig_anderton

Should I be insulted :-)? Best r's, Mats Nermark
