Max Ventura
After a couple predictions of mine appeared for real at this Winter Namm (Roland VS 24-Tracker and Yamaha desktop synth in AN & FM), I feel compelled to dust off my wizard hat and start blabbering away my predictions for the near and far future, concerning world economics, horseraces, your love life and technology improvements. Ask away!!! I accept Visa, MC, Amex, Diners, cash, post-dated cheques, merchandise, women, cattle, produce, ecc. Max Ventura, Italy.

dansouth
What's the news from Yamaha? I heard something about a "9000" synth. Anybody got the goods on this thing?
sbrock1san.rr.com
I predict no one will ever make a good, serious drum machine ever again. The old ones that had personality will become worth a small fortune.
Curve Dominant
Yo Steve, I felt the same way until Korg came out with the ElectribeS. Have you demo'd that chumpy? I was watching the NFL playoffs with my pop, and a Toyota commercial came on...the soundtrack consisted of a FACTORY PRESET PATTERN FROM THAT UNIT. Someone got paid thousands by an ad agency to buy a $500 unit, take it out of the box, and plug it in. Oh Swami Max-A-Dami, could you pleez predict a Swedish women's volleyball team in my bed when I wake up tomorrow? I'll fly them to Fano when I'm finished. Anderton
>>I predict no one will ever make a good, serious drum machine ever again.<< I predict that during this year, there will be a very serious and fine drum machine from a company with an impeccable pedigree for same. And that's all I'm gonna say! Max Ventura
Yo Eric, that thing about the Electribe S used for commercials: Korg retains the copyrights for those pattern; it's in the manual! What the deal then? However, these are my PREDICTIONS for the day: -a voice modeller will appear, capable of replicating the vocal timbres of famous singers while you sing your tunes and lyrics. There will be upgrade cards for it and a best seller will be Frank Sinatra's, Elvis' and Jim Morrison's voice cards. -A self-included studio will appear, in 24- and 48- tracks formats, with physical controls same as on an analog mixer, and a hardware HD recorder section based on Cubase VST or other competitor, and a CD-Rom drive capable to load all your favourite plug-ins. And the detachment from the PC will be definitive for the audio industry. -EMU/Ensoniq will come out with the definitive sampling drum machine/sequencer based on a 16 tracks engine, and I strongly hope they will give it the appearance of a 16 channel mixer with dedicated EQ, level and pan controls for all the tracks and a choice of waveforms to assign to each track. There will also be a choice of rolls, fills, and the like, which were missing on the ASR-X. -Kurzweil will go out of business because the reputation does not match the sales. -Some company will come out with an empty shell of an unit, with a decent number of realtime controls, and a front port to plug specialized sound engine cards: the Pad-O-Rama, dedicated to all sorts of pads, classic and electronic; the Drum-atic, dedicated to all sorts of modern drums; the Mono-maniac, dedicated to all sorts of lead/soloist monophonic sounds, classic or electronic; the unit will also be an universal playback device capable to read ANY existing format , whether on floppy, Cd-Rom, PCMCIA, SmartMedia, and such.
