Thomas K
I'm very close to upgrading and leaning towards the AMD Thunderbird. Does anyone what the preferred motherboard would be? And is the bus speed up to 200 like I think I'm reading?
Anderton
I would ask AMD directly, or check their web site. I think they've been pretty specific about recommending mobos for their processors. But of course, if anyone else has suggestions, fire away. Alndln
I recently built 2 Athlon Thunderbird machines for Daw that are running beautifully. At this point there is only one chipset compatible with most audio cards and that's the Via Kt-133.And the most recommended motherboard for audio(Pc-wise) is Asus period due to excellent internal clock. skippyeznet.net
I know this is probably old, but ASUS makes some of the best mainboards out there. ASUS, Abit are my top two prefernces. www.pricewatch.com will help you find the board you're looking for. Just be careful of some places.. they'll tack on a 15-20 dollar shipping charge for a box that weighs approx 2-3 pounds. Good luck!
