Anderton
Let's broaden this topic... Have any of you bought over the web? What was your experience? For example, I've heard good things about AudioMIDI.com...any companies out there that do it right? Do it wrong? This isn't about music gear, but I've gotten into buying airplane tickets on line, because it's great to know what airports you connect through, etc. But don't always believe the hype about companies offering the lowest prices on their sites. I checked Delta for round-trip to Zurich...over a grand! Went to Travelocity.com; if I went to Zurich by connecting through New York, but landing at LaGuardia and departing from JFK, it went down to $535. One other thing...how many of you use sites to find lowest prices on gear? Tedster
Excellent bit about the travel thing. I've got a friend who lives in the Seychelles (now tell me that's not appealing come February or so). I looked up a ticket, like three grand. Of course, the flight would stop in Paris and Cairo. So adding the legs separately, it was like 950 bucks total!!! Now, all I've gotta do is talk the wife into it...hehehe... But, I bought a mic online once. Pretty good deal, had no trouble (it was through one of the major catalog houses). But...let me put this little plug in. Check your local dealer first. They're really feeling the heat from all of this internet and big catalog chain stuff, and many will do backflips to play ball with you. Ordering electronic stuff online is probably cool, but as for guitars and such, nothing beats going down the rack at the local shop to find the right one. IMHO.... I hope that's not stepping on some fine folks who are sponsoring this board's toes... "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
