bleonhartearthlink.net
Hi, My studio is set up mosty for recording drums. I want people to use my studio and take the 8-16 tracks of drums back to their studio to finish their project. I track mostly everything through cubase (aiff) and the option of audio desk (sound designer II) via the 2408/1224. If I have all the start and end times the same will other programs be able to import these files? Also I record on mac, will my files open on a PC? Thank you. ------------------
Anderton
In a worse case situation, you can just take each file (assuming they all start at the exact same time), import it into your program of choice, and line up their beginnings with the beginning of the file. All should be well. However, I recommend always adding a click-type countoff at the beginning of any tracks you want to transfer. You never know when you'll need it. For example, once I received an ADAT tape with 16 tracks of material for editing in Logic Audio. The first 8 tracks were recorded at the beginning of the tape, then a few minutes later on the tape, the second 8 tracks began. Because all of the tracks had a countoff, I was able to line them all up visually in Logic, thus eliminating the need for two synchronized ADATs to play the tracks into Logic. As to the AIFF/WAV question, many Windows programs can now read AIFF files. If yours doesn't, there are programs that can convert between the two formats (Sound Forge, WaveLab, CoolEdit, SampleWrench, etc.).
