Jim Tavegia
I have an Alesis QSR as one of my sound modules. I have always questioned the converter quality of any sound module, but most don't come with coaxial or optical outputs for converter upgrades. The Alesis units have their ADAT Optical output, but is is not SPDIF. Has anyone used the AI-3 as an outboard converter to upgrade their Alesis' keyboards or the QSR? Does it improve the analog output sound quality enough to warrant the cost? Thanks. ------------------ Jim T. Jim T.
Alndln
My brother uses it with his PC for recording and it sounds excellent, and is a great buy as other converters usually cost twice(tango ect.)as much.Although I can't confirm this I read in another forum that according to a bench test the A1-3 was one of the few converters in it's price class to actually pass 24 bit i/o as other converters advertise 24 but only pss about 20. BP3
I've had one for a while. It's an excellent piece for the money. Don't hesitate, Alesis may figure that they're charging too little for it.

Aaron Selix
I have not hear of a converter that can do the full 24 bits. If you look at the dynamic range of most high end converters, it's about 115-120db. 120 would be 20 bits (1bit = 6db). So, 24 bits would be 144 dynamic range, and I doubt that the alesis is able to that.
