TUNING A STEINBERGER SPIRIT-GT PRO?

HI ALL,I REALLY NEED SOME HELP I JUST BOUGHT A STEINBERGER GT-PRO GUITAR AND I AM HAVING TROUBLE TUNING IT,ON MY TUNER THE STRINGS ARE SHOWING UP DIFFERENT THAN WHAT THEY ARE,IS IT BEACAUSE THE SCALE OF THE NECK IS DIFFERENT?PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM AND LET ME KNOW WHAT THE OPEN STRING NOTES ARE FROM THE 1st. STRING TO THE 6tH. STRING,ALSO COULD IT BE THE GUITAR,I BOUGHT IT FROM MUSICYO.COM I DON'T HAVE A PHONE NUMBER FOR THEM,ARE THEY A GOOD MUSIC RETAILER?AND IF SO COULD U PROVIDE ME WITH SOME INFO ON THEM LIKE A PHONE NUMBER,I KNOW THIS IS A LOT BUT PLEASE I NEED THE HELP.

Tuning a guitar is completely relative to whatever pitches you choose to tune it too. For instance, you might decide to tune the 5th string (the A string) to 440Hz, and then the rest of the strings would be tuned to their proper pitches relative to that. But you could decide to drop that A-string down to 338Hz, then you would need to retune all the other strings according to the new lower pitched A-string.

 

If your guitar tuner doesn't have any kind of audible tone output that lets you actually hear a reference pitch to tune to first, then I'd suggest going out and buying a pitch pipe to give you some sort of reference, or get a tuner that produces pitches, but this won't help you tune in a loud/noisey atmosphere.
