Dr Nursers
This I imagine will end up the largest thread being the hangout. Any exciting announcements (e.g. we will be playing song live on international telethon to 4 billion people) will be made here. Steve Force
So, Mr. Moderator, how do we collaborate? I know products like Nuendo have that functionality built-in but how are we envisioning it here? Curious minds want to know! Dr Nursers
Well, I was going to leave that call to Mr Bunny - i know I've used a program called Shorten to send him full quality tracks before. Essentially that makes the process platform / application independent. Bunny what do you think? Bunny Knutson
Nursers, if you could handle the FTP site, that would be very helpful. Initially, we should work with MP3 files, to save bandwith and transfer time. We can send MP3s back and forth between participants in email, or post them online for folks to download. The final mixer is the only person in the process who needs the tracks to be actual wave files. I suggest that the final wave files be 16 bit, again to save bandwith and transfer time. We can use Shorten to compress the wave files for online transfer. https://bunny.bandcamp.com/ https://theystolemycrayon.bandcamp.com/

Chris.
I have a raw 1min45 of news report soundbytes i could post. the're just one after the other, but maybe someone could help me choose which ones to use for further processing. I know its such a small part of the greater project but if we have a nice intro, then we have insipiration for the rest of the tune. http://www.faceoffriendship.org/fof_banner_468.gif

Chris.
on second thoughts maybe the song should influence the intro. I'll be back tommorrow! keep up the good job guys' http://www.faceoffriendship.org/fof_banner_468.gif
Dr Nursers
Ok, Tedster and Billster have posted demos, and Guitar Shoes has posted a lyric. Here's what I am suggesting based on the short time frame: 1. Tedster's song is the primary song. He offered first, has put in a helluva lot of work, and the demo is excellent IMO. The song more than does justice to the theme as well. 2. Billster and Guitar's demos either both become a b-side, or people help to develop both and we all vote or something. Both of these songs have promise and would add greatly to the value of what is being offered. Does this sound ok? I'm trying like hell not to sound pushy, just aware that Shars needs a demo asap and that at worst Tedster's demo as it stands is good enough to give people an idea of what will be achieved. Steve Force
My site is rock-solid (comcast.net=--hosted), with plenty of space and bandwidth so this shouldn't be an issue. Chris.
BUNNY check your pm's. I have done a couple of takes for the classical intro - you choose, and also just some token strummin for the verse in case you needed a sound of the same tinbre to fade the classical guitar out at the start of teds bit. I've also given you the two news samlpes i used.. (shorteed 16bit wav too) with no telephone filter on, so as pure as possible, and you can do what you like there. extra - i've also budled a 1min45 of news reports in a shortened file too, just in case you hear anything that would be better. But i haven't asked for permission for these ones. Well.. i'm still waiting for a response from the bbc about the two samples we've already used, so fingers crossed! http://www.faceoffriendship.org/fof_banner_468.gif
Bunny Knutson
Got your PM, and replied, Chris. Oh, and the files should be mono, so they're smaller. https://bunny.bandcamp.com/ https://theystolemycrayon.bandcamp.com/
Chris.
Check your email bunny. i've sent the wav files. Just to mention to everyone! - I've had to send wavs because I had problems with the shortening program. When i came to attach it to a hotmail account, it said it had a virus that could not be cleaned. Eek indeed! wouldn't want our efforts to wipe out bunnys computer or nothing! http://www.faceoffriendship.org/fof_banner_468.gif

Shars
Just seen the news and £16.5 Million has been raised since last night by the British public alone for the DEC (Disaster Emergency Committee) to distribute. Chris.
good morning all.. Hey shars.. i've been thinking, and i need to say something. I really think the price should be more. £2 i think, if not more than that. That wouldn't deter anyone.. its the differenc between 75c and a dollar to the americans, and sill less than a pint for us brits! We are not going to be shy about asking for peoples money.. in fact we could probably be quite rood about it http://www.faceoffriendship.org/fof_banner_468.gif
Philip OKeefe
A couple of bucks would be no big deal... but hopefully we'll have something on the website that will allow people to donate more if they want. If someone can only afford a couple of bucks, then we should encourage that... but OTOH, if they want to donate more, we should also definitely encourage that too. That's my opinion FWIW. Phait
My request to all here Please don't release the URL of the site if you know it, until everything is finalized - from what we're going to initially be offering, and what payment method we're using, and everything is up, ready and launched.
