I really don't know what to put here.

Bunny Knutson Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 I got Forceman's tracks. Sylver, sound good. Be sure to use the new click/guide track: http://tedster.net/fearmixrough2.mp3 The official new BPM is 133.78, by the way. https://bunny.bandcamp.com/ https://theystolemycrayon.bandcamp.com/
nursers Posted December 31, 2004 Author Posted December 31, 2004 I think I'll record at 137.38 just so you have to do the math to convert The Keyboard Chronicles Podcast Check out your fellow forumites in an Apple Music playlist Check out your fellow forumites in a Spotify playlist My Music: Stainless Fields

Bunny Knutson Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 BTW, I really was being serious about that tempo - 133.78. That's just how Tedster's drum machine translated to the Pro Tools clock. https://bunny.bandcamp.com/ https://theystolemycrayon.bandcamp.com/

offramp Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 LOL at Bunny!! Well, whatever works as far as the click. I just started the file in DP tonight so I can roll first thing in the morning on it. (Well...after coffee, anyhoo..). Imported into DP as 44.1/16 per Philaxander the Great. Looking through my setup, it may be awfully time-consuming and/or problematic to convert each individual track from AIFF to WAV. Can anyone else handle that? (I am assuming that whomever is mixing this would want indie tracks from me, yes?) I've upped my standards; now, up yours.
offramp Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Bunny, can you make forceman's tracks available to me so I can lock in with him? I've upped my standards; now, up yours.
Billster Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 133.78? He's using metric conversion to appease nursers! I used 134, and sent the info on original sync points to O'Keefe. I sent AIFF, hope that works. The parts I recorded were mono guitar, it seemed pointless to convert them to stereo SDII files. If there's typos here, it's because I hit the whiskey while my stupid dialup sent 6 megs to Phil! Buy my CD on CD Baby! Bill Hartzell - the website MySpace?!?!

Philip OKeefe Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Offramp, if you're doing drums, here's what I would prefer: AIF or WAV, I don't really care too much either way. BWF's are preferred, but I can load WAV, BWF or AIF, so if it's a hassle for you, just give me whatever is easiest. 44.1 kHz, 16 bit please. 133.78 is the tempo. Ideally you'll want to load Tedster's latest rough mix in and use his click (which should be hard panned to one side, with his scr. mix of vox / gtr hard panned to the other side. I had him do that so you folks could balance out the vox / gtr vs click ratio to your tastes while tracking. Yes, Offramp, I would like individual tracks from you. Ideally I'd like stereo overheads (XY or spaced pair - your call), kick, snare and individual toms. A "just in case" hat mic may be nice to have, but isn't crucial, especially if you feel you are getting plenty in the overheads. Give me whatever you can, but if you can also drop me a message here with the mics you used and other documentation, it may be useful. Last thing - please reference everything to "zero" on the DAW timeline so that I can align things easier. If you don't know what I'm talking about (anyone) don't worry about it - I'll nudge it in and align it here. Other than some rack time tonight, I'll all yours for the next two days folks. Anyone who needs to contact me can get the numbers from my website - just remember that the 360 number is now 951 area code, NOT 909. I've really got to update that on my site. The 489 number is still 909 though.
Bunny Knutson Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Here's a ROUGH mix purely for the purpose of updating everyone on the progress of recording: Fear - ROUGH progress update mix. (very, very incomplete mix) <---link This rough mix has DJDM's Wurli track, Forceman's Fender bass track, and a rough comp of one of PBBPaul's guitar solos. Tedster's vocals are scratch tracks. He's going to record the keeper lead vocal tracks on Friday or Saturday. Offramp is planning on recording the live drum tracks on Friday. Nursers just uploaded some new tracks that I'm going to d/l in a minute. https://bunny.bandcamp.com/ https://theystolemycrayon.bandcamp.com/
Shars Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Again people...this is so cool! Its unbeleiveable how so many people are playing from all parts of the plant. well done guys! www.myspace.com/yacababy
Philip OKeefe Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Outstanding work Bunny. Excellent job of keeping it organized, and providing everyone with a good working "progress" rough mix and letting us know where everything stands. Good report! PS The only thing you left off is whether you and FoxTick are going to be able to make it down here, and if so, when? PPS Sounds good folks.
Bunny Knutson Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Thanks, guys! I love the Wurli track, DM, but you already know that. Yes, Phil, I just answered you in the Mixing thread, I think. We'll be there! Warm up the ADAMs! https://bunny.bandcamp.com/ https://theystolemycrayon.bandcamp.com/

Shars Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 I just recieved a brilliant piece of encouragement from Gary Husband which i want to share with of you here. If you dont know Gary hes a world class drumer whos played with everyone from Billy Cobham to Allan Holdsworth. Hes a dear dear friend and I know how upset he was by this event. I want to profoundly congratulate you all on the Faces Of Friendship project you've set up. What a great thing. That's a fantastic impulse by you, and I wish the project all my sincere best. This is all just so dreadful there are no words I can even find to use. Truly dreadful. www.myspace.com/yacababy

offramp Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Wow, Shars...now I'm chilled and freaked that the awesome Mr. Husband comments!! (Insert smiley of nervous dude pulling his collar away to relieve the pressure...) PHIL: Like I said last night, I loaded the scratch track in, panned it to taste. Template is ready to go. It's 9:20 a.m. here; I'm waiting for my wife to go to work so I can get busy on this. I see now that I'll have to re-import the new updated scratch , which is just fine...I'd rather have more people to play with than a click and a tired songwriter anyhoo Mics are as follows: 421 on kick 57 on snare AT D3700 SD condensers on two rack toms 58 on floor ('cause I know you hate the C1000) 414 on overheads I normally have a hat mic--an old AKG 160--but I'm thinking there's probably plenty o'hat (famous Irish drummer) in the overheads; I was wondering about doing an RCA DX77 as a mono overhead in addition to the 414's, just for options' sake. Your call. In fact, check the fotos of my setup that I sent you, see if you want me to make any changes. Normally have the 414's as spaced pair, but if you'd like a different config... Off for a minnit...wife's leaving, I need more coffee, and I gotta download the new rough. I've upped my standards; now, up yours.
offramp Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Hey, Bunny, or someone... Can I get the scratch track minus the drums? Distracting. Thanks. I've upped my standards; now, up yours.
Mr.WOW Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 BUNNY, I sent you a PM and my guitar work is ready to go, take a listen and let me know what you think. WOW
PBBPaul Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 I'm being slammed with other duties today so won't be able to put up a better track. Hopefully you can use some of what I did Wednesday. If not, I'm sure WOW's stuff will be awesome! I can't wait to hear the final mix. Our new and improved website Today's sample tune: Lonesome One
