What happened to all the collaborators?

Recommended Posts

I was actually looking forward to hearing the tunes and reading about the creative workflow solutions that this collaboration project promised. Time constraints kept me from actively participating, but I was still curious as to what you guys and gals came up with. Do any of the teams have anything to share? Why not?

Same thing here. Bunny was sick, then I had an injured finger, then I got this new forum I'm moderating, then I got slack as hell, then......then.....there's even more to this story, I assure you, but we've got a great song in the works.

Me and bunny came out with THIS , little thing, as a result of the project.

TGOR Theme, coming soon!

I haven't said much on this subject since I was so hopeful that everyone would honor their commitments and come up with a couple of songs. But that's not happening. I understand work related delays and equipment failures. There were so many that said they wanted into this project but we hear nothing from them anymore. Maybe they are busy trying to get the songs recorded?

I learned a long time ago that internet communications are untrustworthy at best. There are lots of genuine and honest people on the internet but there are a lot who can hide their true selves and assume some pose to try to belong or impress. I realize we have all levels of musicianship present here. I personally am one of the more lowly but I gave it my best shot and SOMA's work turned out pretty good. (At least that's what I've heard from the comments others have made.)

As a team effort, we all learned a lot in honoring our commitment. It was a new experience for all of us and we had to stumble and keep trying until we managed to get something right. I don't think any of my other team members would mind if I say that we are all available and offer our help and experience from lessons learned to any team trying to get their songs completed.

So, with that in mind, I am going to start a thread for anyone that might have a question or need a little help.

Ehhhhh, why don'tcha bite me!

Yeah, I fizzled out. I still have every intention of doing what I said I was going to do. But I haven't done it yet. It's not about posturing as a big shot music guy -I REALLY am a big shot, I swear!

No, seriously. There are some technical issues on my end that I am resolving. But the real reason I haven't done anything, is simply because I haven't gotten to it yet. I have felt VERY uninspired lately. Emotionally tired. I have greater demands placed upon me by my wife, my son, and my 4 month old daughter.

I really want to work on some music. I mean I REALLY want to! But nothing is happening for me. It's like the stupid 'On' switch is busted. I just can't seem to get it happening.

But I'm working on it! I WILL deliver the goods at some point! I promise.

Super 8

I hope you do get something going Super. I understand writer's (or composers) block. Where's your other team members? On our team, if someone couldn't help out, someone else would throw out an idea. I did this and some of my ideas were so bad that the other guys had to come up with something else for fear we'd end up using a wrave tune. (Right guys? ;) )

Good luck and see if ya can't get a little inspiration or help from your other team members.

Super,

Give it time, man. Your life is not the same, anymore. Having a child changes everything. My daughter will be 16 months soon, and I'm just now getting back into the flow. Just wait until she gets around 8 months and you are going to be nothing but inspired. Right now, you are still in the stressful part. And when you have a wonderful daughter, who cares about these other things that really don't matter. Quit worrying about your creative rut and start enjoying every second you can with your daughter. This time you have won't last long. She is going to be a "kid" before you know it. And you will miss the baby that she was just yesterday.

So just sit back, don't worry about the rut you are in. It is because of the major change in your life, that's all. Kids change everything. It is hard at first, but it is worth it.

I went for a year without any creative output and just about went nuts. I lost my job and just about went nuts. You know me, everything makes me nuts.

But everytime I look at mu daughter, I realize that everything else is trivial and I have been blessed beyond my wildest dreams. I thought I knew what was important before, now I know what is important.

Children are the biggest miracle of all. Look to her and she will give you the inspiration you need. And even though she can't talk, she will communicate with you.

I'm also going to take a pot shot guess and assume that your listening habits haven't changed over the years.

In my opinion, the absolute most important thing a musician can do is listen to as much music from as many styles as possible.

And listen to music every chance you can. I always have music playing. Everything a musician does is just a re-interperatation of existing elements.

The beauty of music lies in the interpretation.

So don't limit yourself. I used to limit myself to underground shit. If it wasn't metal, hardcore, or some other variety of noise, I wasn't interested.

And all of my creative output reflected just that.

You are what you eat. Only after I opened myself up to other forms did I start to create on a new level.

Wrave,

I've been paying attention to some of the other team threads and we're not out there all alone. B_3's team has a great song in the works that's nearing completion and they have now put up a 2nd tune that they are working on.

I believe that Wewus and Bunny have a 2nd tune working as well.

Due to recent events on the East Coast with Isabel, keep in mind that TWO of our managers WERE in the path of Isabel. Sylver resides in PA., and Wewus in NC. Although neither of them were not immediately struck with devastating disaster, their areas have been shuttered and torn apart. It's going to take time for their cities to get things back to normal. Some areas on the East coast are still without power; some without any resources available at all.

Rather than prod ... Wrave, let's take pride in our accomplishments with SOMA; but also keep in mind, that I got a little harsh at times to get results... hench, I don't think a couple of team members like me anymore.

My offer is there to other teams for assistance in getting things off the ground.... as long as I don't have to sing for the next week or so; until the mold count goes down.

I got an e-mail that said SOMA the other day, it seems its a drug on the market and they are sending out e-mails all over the place.

SOMA is the name of the drug, I dont know what it does , but just thought I would let you know.

Ha Ha,

It's a muscle relaxer :D SOMA is a muscle relaxer... ROTFLMAO!!!!!

Quite contrary to the team name behind the acronym of S.O.M.A. LOLOLOLOLOLOL........

Perhaps you remember what it stood for... if not, I'll let your mind ponder for a bit until someone else jumps on it.

And NOW the truth finally comes out... I drugged my team players with muscle relaxers!!!

Muscle relaxer, au contraire.

Dosn't that come later in a man's ;) life?

Actually some of Wrave's tunes were too good for us to use. He finally admitted that he was part of a Swedish hit-making team that was responsible for inundating the West with sugary-synth pop. He backpeddled his accomplishments once Anifa threatened to toss him off the team.

What we record in life, echoes in eternity.

ThisDude - thanks for your interest in our project. I am pleased to inform the other participants that ThisDude is not alone with his 'outside interest.' A few people I have spoken to are really keen to hear the outcome.

I am confident that our songs will impress. They are almost done but as Paul said we have been hampered by computer problems, travelling members and ftp issues. Does anyone feel like helping us out with transfering some files?

:D:wave::D ....

Did "I" threaten to kick people off of the team..."MOI"???? But, but, but.... no one told me that there was no such thing as sticking to a deadline!

DRAGON LADY....I'm insulted..... I resemble that remark WRAVE!!!! Fire beathing, whip cracking maniac that I be. ;) This project did have such a good steam going, with the high expectations. Anyone have any ideas as to how long some of the other projects were out there before finalization?

We are three weeks beyond the deadline, with 2 managers in Isabel afflicted areas. As said earlier, it appears that B_3guy's team is diligently working towards getting their tunes pulled together. I know that Big K and Flyscots were trying to get something together.... all hope is not lost yet.

DOES ANYONE WANT OR NEED ANY HELP??? If you have had team members fall out, is it possible that other team members that were unavailable to contribute within specified time frames, who are now available, can step in to fill the voids???

It sort of makes me feel bad that I was such a hard ass to get results, and I was indeed. But I was under the impression that the projected goal would be adhered to as much as possible. Two of my team members that had personal issues or travel demanding of their time ended up not getting to contribute musically... BECAUSE of a pre-established deadline.

Our team met that deadline....

For what it's worth, since other teams are working around personal issues and what have you, I would like to see if the two members of SOMA that didn't get to be involved musically can opt out to other teams in need. Both are great guitar players and definately capable of performing. They may also be in more of a position now, than before, to produce results.

If they still want to participate, with other teams needing assistance in completing songs, or if they want to spin off with another set of SOMA songs.... I'd like for those doors to be opened.

I ran my team like I would run any business... unfortunately it was not a joyride for anyone or everyone involved, but it was result oriented.
