Geordie
Hi, Just a really quick question regarding MIDI drums. I currently use a Roland R8 as my MIDI controller and program my drum patterns, songs, etc on the R8. I send the MIDI information into my PC to an empty track in Sonar. The information shows up and the drums play back using Battery as the sound source. My question is regarding separating the individual instruments (snare, kick, hihats, etc) and being able to give them a track each of their own to have more control over the individual instruments velocity, eq, effects, etc. Is it possible to break the information down to that level and if so, could someone give me a quick lesson on how to do it. Cheers and many thanks in advance for your help. Steve
RecreationalThinker
You can use Edit | Filter in SONAR to extract the individual drum note numbers to separate tracks. I'm not a "people" person, I'm a "thing" person.

jay da cop
I do this all the time using Sonar and 2 D4's. Each sound has it's own track for exactly that reason. I use 2 D4's because I got a real good deal on the second one, and I can separate out the percussion or cymbals to the aux outs for outboard EFX if I don't use plug-ins.
