webe123
There are currently THREE guys on ebay all selling complete DW drum sets at $3,000.00 ....$3,975.00....and $4,500. Now these guys have little or no feed back and have NO pics! The only one that has a "pic" is a close up of a drum shell! And then, you can't really tell what it is! My question is, do they really think people that buy these expensive sets are going to buy them sight unseen? With no proof that they do actually own the set?? I have not seen THREE DW complete sets before, going at the prices they are asking and no picks and very little (if any on one) feedback. Here are the three auctions on ebay respectively. This one is wanting three thousand dollars for the set. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=64438&item=3733431299&rd=1 This one is wanting $3,975 for the set.(Well...at least he has a close up of a drum!) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10175&item=3733178495&rd=1 And lastly this one wants $4,500 (to start) on the set. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=64438&item=3732619542&rd=1 Now mabye these guys have a reason for not posting pics, as one said there was not time.....but to ask people to spend THAT kind of money on a set and little feedback and no pics?? Sorry, I just don't buy it. I was looking for a set for my church. The Drummer said he wants either a DW set or a pearl masters series, but to be quite frank, I just could NOT reccomend these auctions to him because I really don't trust them myself! Zeke Smith.
Well, the one guy has sold a lot of boots. Smells like a hijacked account to me. I'd never buy a drumset of that level over the internet, just because there are so many possible pitfalls. Current live rig: Roland RD700SX, Hammond XK-3 with Leslie System 21, and Muse Receptor. Also a Nord Stage 76 other times instead. And a Roland FP-7 for jazz gigs. HOME: Kawai MP8 + a bunch of VI's.

Probably most of these kind of auctions like that are scams. I thought so!
adam b_dup1
i would never spend so much money online ESPECIALLY on ebay. i just hope nobody falls for it. the last one seems like the guy just took a musicians friend and picked out all the most expensive hardware and cymbals for his kit. paiste signatures, DW9000 pedal, double braced DW stands, with a kit worth about 5500 bucks i would think he would be able to get a picture. a load of bull. .....bonham
drumrob
Hey, I agree, this sounds very lame. I can't believe how many times I've seen auctions where the seller says something like "I didn't have time to post pics" or "my computer won't accept pics right now" or some other nonsense. If they don't have time to post the pic, they shouldn't have time to post the auction. I think it always smells very fishy when there is not a picture of the actual item for sale - particularly on high ticket items like you mention. Good luck! RobYeah, that is exactly how I feel about them! If they can't post a picture of a $3,000.00 set, then do they REALLY believe that the people that actually buy those sets and know what they are worth, are gonna take their word for it??? I just don't get that. Mabye they are hoping some poor soul that doesn't know anything about drums will think they really have something! Either way, these people really bother me. Because they know that until you can PROVE that they don't have the drums they claim to have, ebay really can't do anything about it, like pulling the auctions off! What usually happens is nobody bites and they end the auctions with no takers. But I guess they sometimes get lucky and find someone who is willing to take a chance, though to tell you the truth, I can't see ANYBODY not seeing the drums first and buying a set like that....espically from someone who has no feedback! To me, that would be crazy. But you never know on ebay.
zeronyne
Well, I sent a note to one of them (the one with the aqua-colored kit with a weird close up photo). He explained that the kit is boxed, and he took the kick out to photograph. He sent me a much better picture of the kick, but only the profile. Something just feels wrong about it. I'm 99.9% sure that he's probably just an inexperienced/lazy ebayer, but that's a warning sign in itself. "For instance" is not proof.
