Im just wondering if any of you guys have lately gotten any good instructional DVD's on drumming that have helped you out a lot. Im not too concerned on a specific style of drumming DVD, but more of what im trying to do is just learn more styles and basically.... learn more.

(i've checked out the Neil Peart DVD and im not paying that much money for it, sorry)

Here are three that I own, that I actually learned something from....

Steve Smith's New DVD from Hudson Music: 5 plus hours of actual useful info. It's awesome.

Brian Brain's DVD: Can't remember the name of it, but you can get it for 10 bucks or so on amazon. It's really low budget but it's got some cool stuff on it.

Carter Beauford Under The table and drumming: Expensive but well worth it.

One very good instructional DVD that I've seen but don't own is by John Blackwell, I think it's called "Technique, Grooving, and Showmanship."

From stick twirling to patterns around the set, this is a fun, inspiring DVD from a great drummer.

For the absolute beginners out there, I highly recommend the Warner Bros. "Ultimate Beginner's Series" 'Drum Basics' package (one dvd containing the contents of the original two vhs videos, plus a very useful instruction book and its accompanying compact disc). Sandy Gennaro is a terriffic teacher.

Covers parts of the kit, counting, basic patterns and fills (including 16th notes and triplets), and how it all fits together in songs.
