adam b_dup1
excuse me if im a little bit outdated im new to forums but i would like to mention the fact of how Neil Peart, user of Zildijian cymbals for a very long time, is now part of the Sabian family, plus he also has a new signature line of symbals. He has his own signature pack for $2,000. Post your thoughts on his switch, but i would mainly like to know if anyone has checked out, or played with his new signature, i hear good ratings about them. i've been checking out the new ride, its 22" and nearly eight pounds. BTW i forgot the name of the line are the Paragon Neil Peart sigantures Again, excuse me if im outdated on this topic, im new here, first day actually. .....bonham
bleen
Howdy - welcome to the Forum! I checked out the Paragons at NAMM last week; they're quite nice - good rock cymbals. The 19" china and 20" crash were my faves, with the 13" hats close behind. The ride lacks some subtlety and as for the rest of the sizes, there are better, more versatile models in Sabian's catalog. That said, these are probably amazing cymbals for Neil and many others. I'm just stupidly happy with mine to have a mad jones for the Paragons. I did get some nice photos of Neil\'s new DW kit at the show if you're interested. recording/mix guy don gunn.com myspace.com/dongunnmusic

coyote
Welcome, TDG. It's likely that Sabian is willing to pay Peart more than Zildjian now, and so he switched. The companies, having started from the same basic recipes, can produce quite similar cymbals. There is no particular sonic advantage in being aligned with one company or the other. I've not heard the Peart pak, nor would I be likely to. I prefer to listen to each cymbal I purchase, and since none of the companies endorse me anymore (lol) I've no incentive to stick with one brand. I used to think I was Libertarian. Until I saw their platform; now I know I'm no more Libertarian than I am RepubliCrat or neoCON or Liberal or Socialist. This ain't no track meet; this is football. sputnik 5
I played the 13" Paragon hats, they are IMO the best sounding hats I've ever played. Its the exact sound that I've been looking for. I love 'em.
