ss
I know that this subject has been touched on several times but I would really like for someone to explain, in depth, the true difference in sound between the 2ply clear and the 2ply coated heads. I have a great tone coming from my kit with Evans g2 clear but I just want to try somthing different. Ya'll know what I saying! I really want to try the g2 coated but would hate to spend the money and be disappointed. To help out on replies, I play a Ludwig Classic Maple kit (Fab 4). Thanks to all!!! Siberian
go to drumweb.com and check out the drum tuning bible. Pretty good info in there about the differences in tonality between different types of heads.
Dwarf
Why not buy a coated head and see what it sounds like on your kit? That's the only way you're really going to know the difference. I can tell you that the coating gives a slight muffling of the higher overtones and thereby makes the head sound a little "warmer", but until you hear it for yourself you won't know how much of the highs are attenuated and whether you like the difference. Sometimes you just gotta spend the money and take your chances because talking about sound is like dancing about architecture - too much room for (mis)interpretation. -- Rob I have the mind of a criminal genius.....I keep it in the freezer next to mother.
