Metal_Boy16
I was wondering how Slipknot gets their beat going in there, with their 2 custom percussionist. Is that a bass drum, floor tom, or timpani. Combination? I just want to find out how to get that noteless beat that they have. Their beat isn't at a note, like a timpani is (I think). The reason I don't know is I'm a bassist. djarrett
Hey, MetalBoy: I am not familiar with the song (although I am familiar with Slipknot.) Post a small snip of an MP3. Perhaps I can help you decipher if I hear the song. Does anyone else know that answer? DJ
DrummerCafe
Perhaps even specify which song you are talking about. Drummer Cafe - community drum & percussion forum
Metal_Boy16
Slipknot songs like Skin Ticket and Left Behind make that specific percussion stand out a lot. I think it might just be a bass drum. I still wonder, though. "If only I had HIS chops!"
DrummerCafe
Well, I just forced myself to listen to the cuts you suggested ... and ... uhhh ... I don't have a clue what you are referencing to. Everything I heard sounds like a regular drumkit with some trigger sounds or effects perhaps. There's so much chaos ... does it really matter what it was exactly. Believe me, if your band recreates the tune ... NO ONE will EVER know the difference if you do your own thing.
